It will sure to be a massive event and will allow the VSTWP to engage with the broader farming and rural community. Come and say hello, and receive a free native tussock plant.
Celebrity journalist and television presenter Pip Courtney is next month set to open the Sheepvention Rural Expo after 25 years since her last appearance at the event.
To be held at the Hamilton Showgrounds, the Sheepvention Rural Expo is on from Sunday, July 31 until Tuesday, August 2. The events attracts ten of thousands of people each year.
Best know for her work as a reporter and host of ABC’s Landline, Ms Courtney said she is eager to return to the region to participate and be a part of the event.
Sheepvention president Kathryn Robertson said they are looking forward to the return of the expo and anticipated another great ram sale with some pens already registered and more expected to come.
Events during the Expo include the Hamilton and district sheep show, Victorian Farm Dog Championships, wool handling, inventions, junior judging and kids photography and scarecrow competitions.
“Entries are now open for the Sheep Show with the feature breed being Poll Dorsets,” Ms Robertson said.
Newly appointed business and events manager for the Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society Emmelie Nijskens said more volunteers are required to assist in the smooth running of the expo.
“Support is required across all areas of the Sheepvention in the weeks prior and throughout the delivery of the event,” Ms Nijskens said.
“We hope that anyone interested will reach out.”
Visitors to Sheepvention can see Ms Courtney at the official opening, followed by an industry focused Q & A session hosted by Reid Stockfeeds.
The official opening will take place in the Sheep Pavilion.
