Helicopters or aeroplanes can be used for large-scale application of herbicide. Coordinate aerial spraying with neighbours to reduce the costs of employing a contractor.

When

Aerial spraying is suitable for inaccessible areas with heavy infestations, large areas, steep slopes and gullies.

Pros and cons

Aerial spraying can treat areas where access and control is not otherwise possible. However, drift of the herbicide risks damage to desirable vegetation and neighbouring properties, and it may miss some areas.

Follow up

Chipping and spot spraying is required, as well as sowing suitable species.
