Landowner packs assisting extension in Ballarat region
The VSTWP have been busy delivering extension material and landowner packs to strategic local governments around Victoria. The aim of the landowner packs is to enable local governments to deliver extension material to targeted areas in their regions, which will ensure greater education in key areas of infestations.
Landowner packs often consist of identification brochures, annual control calendars, pathways of spread brochures and best practice management materials. These cover the full spectrum of landowner requests for information and enable a great understanding of the impacts of serrated tussock and how to best manage the spread across Victoria.
VSTWP Community Engagement Officer, Ivan Carter, said ‘We need to ensure we are getting the right information to the right landholders in a timely manner’. ‘Local government often has a better insight into their landowners and where the extension material is best delivered and via what methods’. It is hoped further information will be delivered to the Brimbank City Council in the coming months, along with a number of field days coming up in Spring 2024.
